Meet the Lighting Designer

Lighting designer Claire Pendarves carries out all the design schemes

Lighting Designer: Claire Pendarves

Hello

My name is Claire Pendarves – lighting designer and founder of Luxplan Lighting Design. I originally trained and worked as an interior designer in London before changing course to specialise in lighting.  It was whilst working on an interior design project in Switzerland many years ago that a renowned lighting consultant was commissioned to carry out the lighting design and my career path changed forever.

I realised that no matter what attention is paid to furniture, fabrics, flooring and window treatments it is the lighting predominantly that can totally transform a space. It can change a mundane interior into something spectacular. It can accentuate good features and help to detract from the negative. And it can make your life easier and more harmonious.

I owned a lighting and interiors showroom for a number of years and learned a good deal about the pitfalls of certain lighting products. But, although it’s worth paying for quality lighting, it doesn’t always need to be expensive. A simple, narrow beamed downlight in the right place can look stunning. And the more you plan, the better the result.

But I also appreciate that everyone has their own vision for their property. That’s why it’s important to have a conversation so I can get a feel for your project. Each commission is entirely individual.

Give me a call if you would like to talk it through.

One stroke of genius was to employ the services of a lighting designer early on in the project. Claire Pendarves devised a plan that would solve some tricky dilemmas, such as how to light a high-beamed ceiling, and so ensure that the finished rooms would look slick and professional.

Lighting is a crucial element of home design that people often overlook. Getting an expert to help us did add to the total cost of the renovation, but the investment has more than paid off. We couldn’t have achieved any of this without Claire.
